Shirley Jean Cook Smith, 83, of Hudson, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, following a period of declining health.
Shirley was born January 3, 1940, in Caldwell County. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Powell Cook.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Jearl Smith; one son, Jearl Smith Jr.; one daughter, Lori Ann Smith; two sisters, Pearl Anthony and Lois Quinn.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Richard Smith (Deborah) and Jimmy Smith; four grandchildren, Christopher Smith (Jacklyn), Amanda Smith, Courtney Miles (Michael) and Allison Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Ashlynne, Ashton, Jaylan, Storm, Zander and Waylon; one brother, Thomas Cook; one sister, Mary Curtis.
The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Mackie Funeral Service.
A Graveside Service will be Monday, October 9, 2023, 2:00 PM at Sunrise Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tony Hamby and Rev. Edd Warren will officiate.
