Mrs. Emma “Susie” St. Claire Willis, 77, of Hickory passed away Monday July 25, 2022 at Frye Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Willis was born January 25, 1945 in Caldwell County to the late Millard Sylvester St. Clair and Helen Mishak St. Clair. She was a member of Freedom Independent Baptist Church. Susie was multitalented as an amateur photographer and artist, a creative writer of short stories, had a voice with perfect alto pitch, could entertain with quick wit and humor and everyone enjoyed her radiant smile. She was a very caring homemaker, and more so, her place in our family is irreplaceable. Susie gave unconditional, unlimited love. She was loyal and committed to family and friends; the heart of the home, welcoming everyone because she never met a stranger. She loved the Lord, and because of her personal relationship with Him, we are provided His comfort and peace that goes beyond understanding, and celebrate her life with us and Him.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bud Ross and Efird St. Clair; and sisters, Mary Ross and Beulah Yates. Survivors include her husband, Verlin Willis of the home; children, David Willis and wife Janice of Mims, FL, Lori Ikard of Hickory, and Randy Willis and wife Jerri of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Jimmy Watley and wife Jennifer, Jennifer Haffner and husband Richard, Christian Browning, Erin Browning, Megan Wortman, and Amber Pardue and husband Josh; great grandchildren, Calais Laganosky and husband Matt, Ivy Watley, Teagan Haffner, Kaitlyn Haffner, Hailey Clemons, Kaleb Helton, Kyler Browning, Montana Pardue, Jordan Pardue and Graysen Brown; great great grandchild, Alice Laganosky; sisters, Ethel Waters, Dean Rary, and Connie Eidson; and brother, L.D. St. Clair.
A funeral service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Freedom Independent Baptist Church, at 2224 Satterwhite Circle Granite Falls, NC 28630 with the Rev. Jobie Borders officiating.
Interment will follow in the Freedom Independent Baptist Church Cemetery at 2224 Satterwhite Circle granite Falls, NC 28630 with Josh Pardue, David Eidson, Gary Annas, Danny Shelton, Seth Bowman, Christian Browning, Kaleb Helton, and Sam Ross serving as pall barriers.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the church.
