Aggie Rachel Icard Woods, 99, of Hudson, passed away on Sunday December 17, 2023, at Amorem in Valdese following a period of declining health.
Aggie was born January 22, 1924, in Caldwell County to the late Oscar Icard and Esco Annas Icard. Aggie was a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and was the oldest living church member. She married Ray Woods on April 14, 1942, and they celebrated their 79th wedding anniversary in April 2020.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Ray; a son-in-law David Henson; four sisters; two brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Jane Wesson and Husband Joe and Candy Henson; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Edd Warren and Rev. Robert Livingston officiating. Inurnment will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
Mackie Funeral Service in Granite Falls is assisting the family.
I remember fondly those yearly trips to the beach. Aunt Aggie was always sweeping because she hated the sand on the floor. She was a wonderful lady and I regret not staying in touch in recent years.
