Toney Carroll Young, 67, of Hickory, passed away Tuesday May 20, 2025 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

Toney was born on December 4, 1957 in Lincoln County to the late Noah Young and Cora Huffman Young. Toney was formerly a master carver with Oyama Woodworking in Conover, and was a member of Icard Church of God.

In addition to his parents, Toney was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Reid Young of the home; his sons, Tony Young of Taylorsville and Christopher Young of the home; his granddaughter, Brianna Young of Rhodhiss; his brother, Buford Young of Hickory; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Toney’s life will be private and held by the family.
