Ruth Daye Kiziah, 83, of Granite Falls passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital following a period of declining health.
Ruth was born February 20, 1941 in Catawba County to the late Harry Willard Daye and Bonnie Kirby Daye. Her biggest source of joy was doing for others and making them happy. She was a loving and supportive mother and grandmother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to play cards, make wonderful desserts, and prepare delicious homecooked meals. She was generous and kind, and she was always willing to lend a hand to others. She seemed to have endless energy when it came to playing with her grandchildren, and was never too tired to play with them or just spend time with them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Bowman and Betty Teague; and brother, Harry Daye.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sabrina Williams and husband Larry of Newton, Rex Kiziah and wife Barbara of Colorado Springs, Todd Kiziah of Granite Falls, and Bobby Kiziah of Grantie Falls; grandchildren, Aubrey Gregory, Megan Brown, and Alex Kiziah; and great-grandchildren, Karleigh Wallace, Salem Wallace, Wyatt Brown, and Walker Brown.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, September 22, 2024 in the Chapel of Mackie Funeral Service with the Rev. David Nolan officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Rex and Family,…I’m so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. I just discovered this today. Please accept my condolences. I know she will be missed, and I pray your fond memories will bring you comfort in the days ahead. I do remember talking with her and Sabrina when she came for a preop appt. at Frye Hospital, and it was a pleasure to reminisce with them. She was a pleasant lady.
Aunt Ruth is a very loving sweet woman, We will mis her greatly.I will miss our calls to catch up. I know that Grandma Daye is happy she has her children with her and their dad now.
Family you are in our prayers. I know this is a hard time for all of you!. May God bless you all.
I got the pleasure of getting to clean for Ruth and what a joy that was. She would tell stories of playing cards all the time. I loved seeing the cards that were recently played. At times the card table would still be up and you could feel the joy from it. She never said a harsh word about anyone. Even when she was in pain, she still never said anything negative! She was such a blessing in my life. I will miss her dearly and will forever cherish the time I got to clean for her.
