Mrs. Rachel Burris Munday, 80, of Rhodhiss passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Frye Regional Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Rachel was born January 24, 1943 in Catawba County, NC to the late Samuel J. Burris and Violet Lutz Burris. She worked as a hairdresser, owning her own business, Rachel’s Beauty Salon, for many years. Rachel was a faithful member of Rhodhiss First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School, was a Trustee, and sang in the choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil “Bud” Munday; brothers, Ray Burris and David Burris; and step father, Dewey Hollar.
Survivors include, her children, Susan Greer and husband Kent of Lenoir; John Munday of Icard, and Gary Munday and wife Tiffany of Oak Island; grandchildren, Kyle Greer and wife Kary, Ashlyn Taylor and husband Kiefer, Hunter Greer, and Karahgan Munday; and great grandchildren, Atlas Taylor, Aurora Taylor, and Karter Greer.
A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Rhodhiss First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Miller officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
