Mrs. Metta Lee Harris Brown, 89, of Lenoir passed into the loving arms of her Lord, Jesus Christ on October 23, 2023 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson.
Metta was born November 28, 1933 in Caldwell County to the late Walter Harris and Zina Soots Harris. Metta had given her life to the Lord at age eleven and has served him faithfully throughout her life. She was a member of Crossroads Community Church since 2003, when she attended with her daughter and son-in-law. She had previously attended South Lenoir Church of God. Metta was always a Godly example to her family ready to pray for whatever the need. She was a faithful servant, helping at SDBM and participating in the church card ministry. She was also a strong beautiful alto in the church choir. She leaves behind many friends from working at Macks, Woolworth, and Family Dollar. Those who knew her best will never forget her recitation of “Alice”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Vernon, Cecil, L.C., Bruce, D.A. and J.W. Harris.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of sixty nine years, Billy Lee Brown; daughters, Elaine Brookshire and husband Jimmy of Lenoir, Cecilia Bowman and husband Rick of Lenoir; grandchildren, Ami Brookshire, Jeremy Brookshire, Christopher Bowman, Brittany Callahan, Nicole Wolfe, Kristina Hefner, and Jessica Bowman; sixteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; sister, Nellie Prevette; four sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 27, 2023 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Crossroads Community Church.
A funeral service will be held 1:00PM Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Crossroads Community Church with the Rev. Rich Bowman officiating.
Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amorem Hospice in Hudson at 526 Robbinswood Place, Hudson, NC 28638 or to Storehouse Food Ministry at 2607 Western Ct. Lenoir. NC 28645.

I just found out about Metta’s passing. I’m so saddened about the news. I really loved this sweet lady and her husband. Danny and I send our deepest condolences to all the family.
We, Betty Brooks Reid and Shirley Reid Estes, were so sorry to hear of Metta’s passing. She was a lovely Christian lady and we know she will be missed. Her family was truly blessed with voices from the angels above we enjoyed listening to them! You will be in our prayers. We know she was welcomed by Christ’s loving hands!
So sorry to hear this, Meta was such a wonderful person. I met her when I was 16 years old and got my first job at Mack’s Dept store she was always so sweet and kind. You knew from the time you first met her that she liked bed the Lord!! My prayers go out to the family as I know she will be truly missed. Lenoir and Caldwell County has lost a very special lady!! And Heaven has gained one very special angel!!

She was a Beautiful person inside and outside I thought the world of her she was so sweet
Metta was a wonderful Christian woman, a devoted wife to Bill and a loving mother to Elaine and Cecilia! Our friendship began 60 years ago. She has been true to her faith and her love for Jesus. She will be missed but an inspiration to all who knew her. Our prayers remain with Bill and the family! God be with you!
