Mrs. Lois Ann Matney, 58, of Connelly Springs passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022 at UNC Healthcare Blue Ridge in Morganton following a period of declining health.
Lois was born September 8, 1963 in Radford, VA to Mr. Jimmy Cox and the late Penny Townsend Hutton. She was a proud survivor of breast cancer for five years. Lois enjoyed sharing her story as well as information on prevention and detection. She worked at Valdese Weavers for 30 years.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her step mom, Carolyn Cox.
Survivors include her fiancé, Danny Critcher of Connelly Springs; father, Jimmy Cox of Granite Falls; step son, Chris Matney of Kentucky; sister, Sandi Smith and fiancé Frank Bedard of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Timothy Hall and wife Carmen of Everette, WA; nieces, Chelsea Allen and Kelsey Hodges; nephew, Jonathan Smith; special aunt, Pam Thomas; and K9 companion, Buster.
A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, August 6, 2022 in the Chapel of Mackie Funeral Service with the Rev. Jerry McKee officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service, on Saturday from 1:00PM to 2:00PM at Mackie Funeral Service.
