John Ray Greene, 79 of Hickory passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023 following a period of declining health.

John was born on June 15, 1943 in Wilkes County to the late William Garfield Greene and Amelia Ann Hodge Greene.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Vonley Edward Greene and William James “Jim” Greene; and a sister, Annie Gertrude Townsend.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce Greer Greene; sons, Michael Ray Greene and wife, Tracie, and Brain Lee Greene and wife, Christy; daughters, Sharon Harrelson, and husband, Larry, and Karen Crisp and husband, David; brother, Jerry Greene; sisters, Kathy Marie Parker and husband, Harry Parker, Jr., Wilma Lee Townsend, Geraldine Fletcher and husband, Bob, and Violet Margie Anderson and husband, Harvey.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Mountainview Baptist Church Cemetery in Deep Gap with Pastor Mike Barfoot officiating.
