James “Jerry” Kirby, 84, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
Jerry was born on August 5, 1939, son of the late James Victor and Margaret Lowman Kirby. He was a volunteer fireman for 20 years and volunteered for Burke County Food Ministry. James was a Sunday school teacher and loved hanging out with his City BBQ friends. He served his country in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Shirley McGinnis.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Patsy Cline Kirby of the home; two sons, Robert Kirby and wife Laura of Granite Falls and Brian Kirby and wife Deborah of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Andrew Kirby, Amber Kirby Gallant, Victor Kirby, and Megan Kirby Reeves; brothers, Roger Kirby and wife Diane, Dean Kirby and wife Brenda, and Kenny Kirby; sister, Loretta Hefner; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 27, 2023, at 2:00PM at Christian Fellowship Chapel in Granite Falls with Paster Dan Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until the time of service.
