Mr. Horace “Bud” Monroe Dula, 82, of Granite Falls passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson following a period of declining health.
Bud was born May 1, 1940 in Caldwell County, a son to the late Mildred “Millie” Hall, Albert Triplett, and Eugene Dula.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margorie McRary; and brother Floyd Dula.
Survivors include his wife of fifty four years, Becky Dula of the home; children, Robert Monroe Dula and wife Denise of Hickory, David Eugene Dula of Hickory, Renee Dula and husband Mikeal Pendergrast of Granite Falls, and Tom Dula of Granite Falls; grandchildren, Hillary Lowman, Emma Rae Dula, Morgan Brooke Edwards, Faith Olivia Edwards, Holly Brook Dula, and Kyle Pendergrast; great grandchildren, Ava Philyaw, Fitz Lowman, and Allie Johnson; brother, Charles Dula; and sister, Margaret Dula.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mackie Funeral Service in Granite Falls.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 9, 2023 in the Chapel of Mackie Funeral Service with the Rev. Clyde Bumgarner officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Dula, David Dula, Renee Dula, Tom Dula, Mikeal Pendergrast, and Kyle Pendergrast serving as pallbearers.
I didnd’t know Bud.but was good friends with Charlie and Floydd.I know Floydd Died some years ago ‘Floydd had the same birthday and the same age as me.I wonder if anyone could tell me where Floydd was born.maybe Blackwelder Hospital in Lenoir.My condolence to the Dula family.They were a great family and friends.Daniel Coffey.

My prayers go out to the family. Bud was such a sweet man. Every time I ran in to him for as long as I can remember he always gave me a great big hug and said “love you girl”.
