Dalton Delano Medford, age 87, of Granite Falls, NC took his last breath on earth and his first breath in heaven on September 25, 2024, surrounded by his friends and family.
Dalton was a beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, & great grandfather. Dalton was a Retired Registered Nurse. He served as the head nurse of the Admission Division at Broughton Hospital in Morganton, NC. He was a hardworking man who worked tirelessly to make sure he took care of his family. He was always proud of his children and spoke about them to everyone; they are his legacy.
Dalton was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Alene Medford.
His legacy is carried on by his; sibling Maxine Liverman; children, Wesley Medford, Lavonne Holshouser, Kenneth Medford, and Kathy Medford; grandchildren, Ryan Medford, Nathan Medford, Dalton Medford, Leah Pantaleo, Clint Nagtegaal, Brent Nagtegaal, Ethan Holshouser, Jesse Holshouser, Cynthia Holshouser, Brandon Medford, Sean Brophy, Grace Waters, and Andrew Waters; and 8 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 3:30PM Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, and announced by Mackie Funeral Service.

I am deeply sorry to hear about Dalton’s passing. My thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to the Medford family during this time. Dalton’s resilience was truly inspiring – from his humble beginnings, to serving his country, and later reinventing himself through a meaningful career in nursing. He touched many lives with his dedication and strength. He was a loving father-in-law, and amazing pawpaw to my son, Brandon. He will be missed! Wishing you all peace and comfort.
