Obituary for Clyde Thompson Cook

6 April 1931 – 9 February 2024

In the early hours of Friday, February 9, 2024, Clyde Thompson Cook joined Hilda in Heaven, his wife of 72 years.  Clyde and Hilda made the family home in Grace Chapel for nearly sixty years.  He leaves his family with many wonderful memories of life on the farm: picnics on the river, fishing from the boat or bank, guitar and banjo music played on the front porch. As recently as this past summer, his garden bounty fed the extended family and filled their freezers. On his last evening, the house was filled with the love and laughter of four generations, including his oldest grandchild and youngest two great grandchildren.  We aspire to his examples of constant curiosity, ingenious problem solving, leaning into challenges, and loving family fiercely.

A Private Graveside service will be held on Monday, February, 12, 2024 at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery.

A Public Memorial Service will be held on Friday February 16, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at The Chapel of Hickory, 410 26th Ave. NE Hickory, NC 28601.
