Mr. Charles William Mikeal, Sr., 88, of Granite Falls passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson following a period of declining health.
Charles was born September 8, 1934 in Caldwell County to the late Herbie Mikeal and Agnes Greene Mikeal. Charles worked in construction at his own company, Mikeal Builders, until his retirement. He was a member of Fountain of Life Worship Center. Charles could often be found on his golfcart, parked on the side of Dudley Shoals Road, waving at traffic and enjoying the fresh air.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Lane Bumgarner Mikeal; daughter, Tammy Chester; sister, Ruth Helton; and brother, Bub Mikeal.
Survivors include his son, Buster Mikeal of Granite Falls; grandchildren, Brittany Mikeal and wife Courtney of Granite Falls, and Chasity Fleming and husband Derek of Lincolnton; great grandchildren, Addison Felming, Annslee Fleming, and Ridge Fleming; siblings, Dottie Mikeal and Chester Mikeal; nephew, Huey Mikealand wife Kathy and niece Shonia Tidwell and husband Phillip.
A funeral service will be held 3:00PM Sunday, February 26, 2023 in the Chapel of Mackie Funeral Service with the Rev. James Cooke officiating.
Interment will follow at Temple Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service, on Sunday from 2:00PM to 3:00PM at Mackie Funeral Service.
