Mrs. Betty Ruth Griffin McNeil, 87, of Lenoir, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Hickory Falls Nursing Home, following a period of declining health.
Betty was born on December 31, 1934, in Caldwell County to the late Daniel Lester Griffin and Bessie West Griffin. She was a longtime member of Whitnel First Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and always supported the church and pastor. She also retired from customer service in car sales.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Billy Edward McNeil, a son, Randy McNeil, grandson, Tony Murphey, son in-law, Tim Murphey, and three brothers, Billy Joe Griffin, Jerry Griffin, Steve Griffin.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Murphey of Goldsboro, and Paula Kirby of Lenoir, three brothers; Danny Griffin, Tom Griffin, and Dwaine Griffin, and four sisters; Carolyn Wilson, Linda Ham, Sarah Lockee, and Janice Triplett. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Brandy Pace (John), Matthew Kirby (Elizabeth), and Zachary Kirby (Megan), three great- grandchildren; Tori Murphey, Aubrey Pace, Blakely Kirby and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Whitnel First Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Stuart White and Rev. Steve Hedgecock officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Whitnel First Baptist Church.
Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whitnel First Baptist Church at 1201 Connelly Springs Rd, Lenoir, NC 28645 or Amorem-Hudson at 902 Kirkwood Street, NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
