Barbara Ann Sigmon Walker, 74, of Hickory was called to her Heavenly Home to be in the presence of her Creator, Lord and Savior, Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Carolina Caring Hospice. After several years of challenging health, she never waivered in her faith. Praise to God, she is now healed and her health restored!
Mrs. Walker was born November 3, 1947 in Catawba County to the late Henry Eugene Sigmon and Novella Abernathy Sigmon. She was a graduate of Hickory High School, and years later continued her education to work in the health field as a CNAII. With her passion for helping others, she worked at Catawba Valley Medical Center for over 17 years before retiring due to her own health. Mrs. Walker was a dedicated and active member of Lakeview Baptist Church. She truly loved her church family. She enjoyed serving the Lord while participating in many ministries including Children’s, Hospitality, Bereavement, Senior Adults, and Helping Hands Food Pantry.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter in law, Kelley Blackmon Walker.
Those left to cherish her memory include, her loving husband of 55 years, Ralph Edward Walker; children, Melissa Walker Keller and husband Christopher Alan Keller, and David Scott Walker; grandchild, Cassidy Keller Carrigan and husband Matthew James Carrigan; and great granddaughter, Blakely Rae Carrigan. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
As the family takes time to mourn and grieve, they have decided a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to send a special thank you to all the prayer warriors who have kept them in their prayers, as well as Carolina Caring for showing respect and compassion during her last days.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lakeview Baptist Church at 4080 North Center St. Hickory, NC 28601 or to Carolina Caring at 3975 Robinson Rd. Newton, NC 28650.
