Antha Jane “Shorty”  McRary, 88, lifelong resident of Granite Falls, NC, passed away peacefully May 28, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Antha was born on June 6, 1936 in Caldwell County to the late Joseph Green McRary and Eva Frances Sherrill McRary. She was retired from BellSouth (formerly Southern Bell) as a telephone operator, and was a longtime member of Grace Chapel Global Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Wade Sherrill McRary, Dwight McRary, Floyd McRary, Ben Ray McRary, Evelyn McRary Holloway and Mattie Sue McRary Connolly; and her nephew, John Daryl McRary.

Left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews, Alice M. Hill of Granite Falls, Steve McRary and wife Mary of Hickory, David McRary and wife Carolyn of Burnsville, Cheryl Bowman and husband Mike of Granite Falls, Terry McRary and wife Denise of Conway, SC, Jane Triplett and husband Lindsay of Granite Falls, Joseph McRary and wife Teresa of Granite Falls, Yvonda Taylor of Granite Falls, Linda Holloway of Hickory, Neal Holloway of Hickory, Elaine Connolly Norton and husband Bobby of Taylorsville, Tom McRary and wife Donna of Lenoir, Greg McRary and wife Lisa of Lenoir, and Susan Connolly Wright and husband Gary of Daniel Island, SC. Also surviving is her special kitty, “Boots”.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday May 31, 2025 at Grace Chapel Global Methodist Church, with Rev. Philip Hefner officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Chapel Global Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:30-11:30 A.M. at Grace Chapel Global Methodist Church.
