Mrs. Alice Johnson Hope, 80, of Granite Falls passed away Friday, November 4, 2022 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson following a period of declining health.
Alice was born September 11, 1942 in Taylorsville, she was the daughter to the late Gaither Garland Johnson and Estelle Starnes Johnson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Johnson Honeycutt and Janice Johnson Hager; and two brothers, Terry Johnson and Wayne E. Johnson.
Alice was a graduate of East Carolina University. She began her thirty year teaching career in Caldwell County. She taught elementary, junior high, and high school. She enjoyed teaching, traveling with close friends, cooking, and playing bridge.
She is survived by her husband of fifty eight years, Melton Hope; daughter, Laura Keller and husband Ben; grandson, Zachariah Keller; sisters-in-law Terri Phillips, Peggy Wood, and Betty Johnson; brothers-in-law, Fred Wood, Bobby Phillips, and Cloyd A. Hager, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 1:00PM Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Sunset Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Jay Worsley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amorem Hospice, formerly Caldwell Hospice, at 526 Pine Mountain Rd. Hudson, NC 28638 or to First Baptist Church Granite Falls at 12 Crestview St. Granite Falls, NC 28630.
I just learned of Alice’s passing. We were “neighbors” at Hibriten. She was an excellent teacher and a good friend. My condolences to her family and friends. N
