Virginia Marie Valley Douglas Koontz Miller
Virginia Marie Valley Douglas Koontz Miller, age 92, of Hudson, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. She was a resident at Springs of Catawba in Hickory, NC. She was born November 22, 1928 in Caldwell County to the late Carl Curtis Koontz Sr. and Eustace Douglas Koontz.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert B Miller Jr., three brothers Jack Douglas, Carl Curtis Koontz Jr., and Euel Koontz; one sister, Almonta Beane, one grandson, Robert Gary Miller Jr., one great-granddaughter, Toni Maddy Hicks, and one great-grandson, Ray Starnes.

Mrs. Miller was a loving mother, homemaker, and wife. She was an accomplished seamstress, gardener, and consultant for her husband in their construction business, selecting home décor for custom homes. After raising her six children she used her talents while working in the fabric department at Belk in Lenoir and at Hammary Furniture as a fabric cutter specialist for custom design furniture. Mr. and Mrs. Miller enjoyed traveling together.

She was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for over 65 years. She worked as a Girls Auxiliary Counselor and leader. She led a team that provided spiritual support and meals in time of family loss. She was a faithful WMU member, and a leader in planning and facilitating senior citizen events.

She attended Whitnel Elementary School and Lenoir High School.

Her most beloved treasure was her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. She was always an example of love and kindness to her children and to everyone she met.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons Robert Gary Miller Sr. (Sharon) and Lewis Ray Miller (Donna), four daughters Carolyn Jeanne Kale (Harold), Virginia Gail Evert (James), Brenda Joyce Miller, and Roberta Lou Canipe (William) all of Sawmills, two sisters Dorcas Drum and Veronica McDougle, 14 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 23 great great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Miller will lie in repose on Saturday December 26, 2020 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held Saturday December 26, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hudson, NC with Rev. William Canipe Jr. and Rev. Glen Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
