Clarence “Don” Fare, also known as “Sarge” age 91, of Granite Falls, moved into life everlasting on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Carolina Rehab in Burke County. He was born March 28, 1927, son of the late William and Elizabeth Fare.

Mr. Fare was a veteran of WWII, Korea and the Vietnam Wars and was a retired Master Sgt. with the US Army. He was a member of Clover Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Howerton Fare, mother of Andrea and his second wife, Doris Annas Fare; three sisters, Margie Honeycutt, Willie Sumlin and Evelyn Watson; one brother Joe Fare.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of fifteen years, Joyce Sides Fare, his daughter, Rev. Dr. Andrea Smith (Scott) of Denver, NC and two grandchildren, Andrew Smith of Ithaca, NY and Layne Smith of Boone, NC.

The Graveside Service with be on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Blue Ridge Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Keith Childers. Military Honors will be rendered by DAV Chapter 6 of Caldwell County and DAV Chapter 84 of Taylorsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to “Inspire Our Children” PO Box 5077

Andrea and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I know he loved my mom and did what he could, in his only way he knew how, to take care of her. I appreciated that. I truly hate he had to spend these last years alone. I know he is in a better place. May you find strength in that. He was so proud of you and his grandchildren. I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Fare for many years, as he was a client at Granite Insurance Agency. Mr. Fare was always such a sweet man. I will be praying for each of you in the days ahead.
