Dewey "Bud" Cannon
Dewey “Bud” Cannon, age 75, of Rhodhiss went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 12, 2018, at his residence. He was born November 12, 1942, son of the late Robert Rufus and Mable Chester Cannon.
Dewey took care of his late wife “Mrs. Kaye” and loved her and his family. He never met a stranger and loved to laugh. He was a member of Refuge Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Kaye Franklin Cannon; two grandchildren, Chasity Elliott and Robert Dewey; one sister, Bonnie Cannon; one brother Ralph Phillips; one great-grandson, Uriah Dewey.
Those left to cherish his memory are four daughters, Brenda Coffey and husband Steve of Laytown, Cathy Elliott and husband Anthony of Hickory, Christi Tolbert and husband Olan of Hickory, Lorrie Dean and fiancé Chip Bellamy of Myrtle Beach; one son, Wade Cannon of the home; a special niece, Tracey Watson of Hudson; five sisters, Lorie “Sis” Cannon of Hudson, Cricket Ekard of Hudson, Doris Gragg of Hudson, Iris Marley of Hudson, Wanda Harrison of Granite Falls; two brothers, Louis Cannon of Lenoir and Charlie Cannon of Hudson; one sister-in-law, Jewerldean Carnett of Hudson; eight grandchildren, Sandy Berry, Jacob Coffey, Kenneth Elliott, Jonathan Elliott, David Dewey, Dustin Tolbert, Victoria Dean, Olivia Dean; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Berry Deyton, Peyton Dewey and Kameron Dewey; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 16, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Refuge Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday, February 17, at 2:00 PM at Refuge Missionary Baptist with Rev. Jerry Woodie, Rev. Steve Coonse, and Rev. David Montgomery officiating. Burial will be at Oxford Baptist Church Cemetery, Conover, NC.
